Using Trends Effectively

Weekly Review

Every week, check:

  1. Overall trend direction

  2. Any prompts that dropped significantly

  3. Any prompts that improved (what worked?)

Monthly Analysis

Each month, do a deeper dive:

  1. Compare this month vs last month averages

  2. Identify consistent winners/losers

  3. Adjust your content strategy

After Content Changes

When you publish new content:

  1. Note the date

  2. Wait 2-3 weeks for AI to update

  3. Check if relevant prompts improved

Multi-Region Comparison

If you track multiple locations, the chart shows each as a separate line:

New York: β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆ 72%
Los Angeles: β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–‘β–‘ 65%
Chicago: β–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–ˆβ–‘β–‘β–‘β–‘ 58%

What to look for:

  • Consistent across regions: Your content works everywhere

  • One region lagging: May need localized content

  • All regions declining: Broader issue with your visibility

Interpreting Trend Patterns

πŸ“ˆ Upward Trend

What it means: You're gaining visibility

Possible causes:

  • Content improvements paying off

  • New backlinks helping

  • Competitors declining

  • AI models updated favorably

Action: Keep doing what you're doing, document what worked

πŸ“‰ Downward Trend

What it means: You're losing visibility

Possible causes:

  • Competitors improving

  • Your content becoming outdated

  • AI models updated unfavorably

  • Lost important backlinks

Action: Investigate specific prompts, update content, check competitors

➑ Flat Trend

What it means: Stable performance

Interpretation depends on score:

  • High score + flat = Great, maintain position

  • Low score + flat = Need to change strategy

  • Medium score + flat = Opportunity for growth

γ€° Volatile/Erratic

What it means: Inconsistent results

Possible causes:

  • AI responses vary run-to-run

  • Not enough data points yet

  • External factors (news, events)

Action: Wait for more runs, focus on overall trend vs individual runs

Best Practices

βœ… Do This

  1. Review weekly β€” Catch issues early

  2. Track over 4+ runs β€” Get reliable trends

  3. Note your actions β€” Correlate with results

  4. Focus on trends, not individual runs β€” Variation is normal

❌ Don't Do This

  1. Panic at single-run drops β€” Wait for pattern

  2. Ignore consistent declines β€” Address them quickly

  3. Compare different schedules β€” Each has different prompts/conditions

  4. Expect immediate results β€” AI knowledge updates gradually
