Agent Settings are accessible from the agent chat panel. Click the settings icon inside the agent panel, or navigate to Account Settings -> Agent from the sidebar.
By default, AI Agent conversations use your account's AI Budget, a separate balance that you fund by converting report credits. If you'd prefer to use your own OpenAI account, you can connect your own API key.

High-volume usage - If you use the agent heavily, BYOK may be more cost-effective
Existing OpenAI account - If you already have an OpenAI subscription, reuse it here
Go to Agent Settings
Click BYOK / OpenAI API Key
Paste your OpenAI API key in the field provided
Click Save
Once saved, all new agent conversations will use your key. Your key is stored securely and encrypted at rest, and is used only for agent conversations in your account.
You can store up to 5 API keys per account and toggle which one is active.
With BYOK active, you can select which model the agent uses. Available options include:

gpt-5.5
gpt-5.4-nano
gpt-4.1
gpt-4.1-mini
Other models may also appear if your own OpenAI account exposes them.
Different models offer different trade-offs between speed, capability, and cost on your OpenAI account.
To stop using BYOK and switch back to platform AI Budget:
Go to Agent Settings -> BYOK / OpenAI API Key
Clear the key field
Click Save
Agent conversations will resume using your account's AI Budget.
If you don't use BYOK, agent conversations draw from your AI Budget balance. AI Budget also powers inline content editing and AI image generation. It is a separate balance, but you fund it by converting report credits.
Your current AI Budget balance is shown in Plans & Billing.
When your AI Budget runs low, the app prompts you to convert report credits to AI Budget. Conversion rates are 20 credits for $5, 50 credits for $15, and 120 credits for $40, with a better rate at higher volume. AI Budget added this way is cycle-expiring: it is meant to be used in the current billing cycle and resets when your plan renews. If you do not have enough credits to convert, the app points you to get more credits first. Any permanent AI Budget top-ups bought before this change keep their grandfathered, non-expiring balance.
The Memory tab in Agent Settings shows all facts the agent has stored across your sessions.

No. When BYOK is active, your platform AI Budget is not consumed. Charges go directly to your OpenAI account.
Without BYOK, the agent uses a model selected by Rank Prompt for quality and performance. With BYOK, you can choose from multiple models in Agent Settings, including gpt-5.4-mini, gpt-5.4, gpt-5.5, gpt-5.4-nano, gpt-4.1, and gpt-4.1-mini.
Yes. Your OpenAI API key is encrypted and stored securely. It is only used to make agent conversation requests on your behalf.
If your AI Budget is exhausted and you don't have BYOK configured, the agent prompts you to convert report credits to AI Budget before continuing. If you don't have enough credits, it points you to get more credits first.
