Agency Domain

Connect a subdomain you own to Rank Prompt so client portals, share links, review links, and optionally the whole app are served from your domain. Covers the DNS records, verification, SSL, re-verification, and troubleshooting. Agency Plus only.

Your domain, our infrastructure

The agency domain is an Agency Plus feature that puts a subdomain you control, such as clients.youragency.com, in front of Rank Prompt. Once verified:

  • Client portal links, share links, and review links use your domain

  • Turning on the white-label app also serves the sign-in page and dashboard from it

Only subdomains are supported. Apex domains (youragency.com) are not.

Setup

  1. Go to White label > Domains (the Agency domain card)

  2. Enter your subdomain and click Add domain

  3. Add the three DNS records shown on the page at your DNS provider:

Record

Host

Type

Value

Purpose

Routing

clients.youragency.com

CNAME

portal.rankprompt.com

Sends traffic to us

Ownership

_rankprompt-verify.clients.youragency.com

TXT

the token shown on the page

Proves you control the domain

Certificate

_acme-challenge.clients.youragency.com

CNAME

the dcv.cloudflare.com target shown on the page

Lets Cloudflare issue and renew the SSL certificate

  1. Click Verify DNS. We check all three records, register the hostname with Cloudflare, and request the certificate

  2. Click Re-check status until SSL certificate shows Active. Certificate issuance usually takes a few minutes

Do not proxy the records through another CDN. The routing CNAME must resolve directly to portal.rankprompt.com.

Statuses

The card shows three pills:

Pill

Pending

Active

DNS

Pending: records not yet verified, or a step failed (the page says which)

Records resolved and the hostname is registered

SSL certificate

Issuing: Cloudflare is still issuing the certificate

Certificate issued. Links use your domain; the white-label app switch requires this

Auth redirects

Pending: your domain is not yet registered with our sign-in provider. Click Verify DNS again or contact support

Sign-in and password reset links return to your domain

A domain that was verified more than 30 days ago and has not been re-confirmed by the nightly check is treated as stale: links fall back to app.rankprompt.com until a check passes again. There is no separate pill for this; click Re-check DNS to re-confirm.

Re-verification

Verified domains are re-checked every night. Each check confirms the three records still resolve and the certificate is still active.

  • A domain that has not been confirmed in 30 days is marked stale and links fall back to app.rankprompt.com

  • After 2 consecutive failed nightly checks the hostname and routing are removed and the domain returns to Failed. Fix your DNS and click Verify DNS to bring it back

  • Accounts that drop below Agency Plus have their domain taken down automatically

You can trigger a check at any time with Re-check DNS.

Removing or Replacing the Domain

Click Remove on the Agency domain card, or enter a new subdomain and click Change. Both ask for confirmation first: they delete the Cloudflare hostname, remove the routing, unregister the domain from the sign-in provider, and turn the white-label app off. Clients signed in on the domain lose access immediately and existing links switch back to app.rankprompt.com.

Troubleshooting

Step 1 (TXT) failed. The _rankprompt-verify TXT record is missing or has the wrong value. Copy the value exactly; some DNS providers add quotes automatically, which is fine.

Step 2 (CNAME) failed. The subdomain does not resolve to portal.rankprompt.com. Remove any A or AAAA records on the same host, and turn off CDN proxying for it.

Step 3 (SSL) failed. The _acme-challenge CNAME is missing or points to the wrong target. Copy the full target from the page.

Records look right but verification still fails. DNS changes can take up to an hour to propagate. Try again later, and check with a public DNS lookup tool that all three records are visible from outside your network.

Domain is already in use. A subdomain can be verified by one account at a time. Remove it from the other account first.

Reserved domain. Rank Prompt domains and our infrastructure hostnames cannot be used.

Links still show app.rankprompt.com. DNS and SSL certificate must both show Active and the domain must not be stale. Click Re-check status to see the current state.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the agency domain replace the sending domain?

No. The agency domain serves web pages. The sending domain is used for outgoing email and has its own card on the same Domains tab. They can be different subdomains.

Can I use the same domain on two accounts?

No. Each subdomain belongs to one account.

Is there a cost?

No. It is included in Agency Plus.

What happens to the links I already sent?

They keep working. When the domain becomes active, links generated afterwards use your domain; older links on app.rankprompt.com remain valid until they expire.
