Every article is researched and written with a set of tools. Each one can be Off (the call is never made), AI decides (the run turns it on when it helps, for a reason it records) or Always.
Go to Brand > Brand settings > Voice and scroll to AI tools. These are the brand's defaults; through the API or the agent, an article can change any of them for itself.
Tool | What it does | When "AI decides" turns it on |
|---|---|---|
Web search | The writer looks up fresh facts and their sources on the web | Always, unless the article uses only your sources |
Google News | Recent news stories on the topic, dated, as facts to cite | For statistics roundups, and when Google shows top stories for the keyword |
Internal links | Links to your own pages closest to the topic | When your site has a page close to the topic |
Read your site | Reads your three closest pages so the article never contradicts them | Once your site is indexed |
Featured image | The main image at the top of the article | Always |
Screenshots | Live screenshots of the products and pages the article names | For comparisons and product deep dives |
Reference pages | Reads the pages that rank today and who AI cites instead of you | Always |
Knowledge base | Facts from your documents, cited and checked | When your knowledge base has an item ready |
Turning Internal links off also removes any link to your own site from the article, except the call to action. Turning Screenshots off replaces a screenshot with an illustration. Only my sources on an article switches web search and Google News off whatever they are set to.
Every article keeps, per tool, whether it ran, why, and how much it used (stories read, pages linked, passages cited). Google News and the other tools are included in the article's credits: nothing is charged on top.
Anyone who can edit the brand can change its tools. Generating articles needs the brand owner on Starter or higher.
