Understanding Credits

Learn how credits work, what actions cost credits, how to check your balance, and how to purchase top-ups.

How the credit system works

Rank Prompt operates on a simple credit-based system. This gives you full control over your usage and costs.

There are two separate credit types:

  • Regular credits - used for visibility reports, AI articles, SEO audits, outreach, and other core features.

  • AI Budget - powers AI features (the agent copilot, inline content editing, and AI image generation). You fund it by converting report credits.

What Are Credits?

Credits are the currency you use to perform actions in Rank Prompt. Each action has a specific credit cost, and credits are deducted from your balance when you perform that action.

Important Notes

  • Standard platforms are bundled: Analyzing a prompt across ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Mode, and Claude costs only 1 credit total

  • Credits per prompt: 1 credit when at least one standard platform is selected (covers all standard engines in that prompt), plus 1 for each premium platform selected. If you select only premium engines, you pay 1 credit per premium platform per prompt (no standard bundle applies)

  • Scheduled reports: Each run costs credits based on the number of prompts multiplied by your platform selection

  • Outreach batch operations: Minimum 1 credit per batch, rounded up

Monthly Credit Allowance

Your plan determines how many credits you receive each month:

Plan

Monthly Credits

Starter

150

Pro

500

Agency

1,000

Agency Plus

2,000

Credits reset at the start of each billing cycle and do not roll over.

AI Budget (Agent Credits)

AI Budget is a separate balance that powers AI features: the AI Agent copilot, inline content editing, and AI image generation. It is a separate pool from regular credits, but you fund it by converting report credits.

  • When your AI Budget runs low, the app prompts you to convert report credits to AI Budget (20 credits for $5, 50 for $15, 120 for $40, with a better rate at higher volume)

  • Converted AI Budget is cycle-expiring and resets when your plan renews; permanent top-ups bought before this change keep their non-expiring balance

  • Alternatively, connect your own OpenAI API key (BYOK) in Agent Settings to avoid using platform AI Budget entirely

Checking Your Credit Balance

You can see your credit balance in several places:

  1. Dashboard: credit widget shows current balance

  2. Top navigation: credit count displayed next to your profile

  3. Plans & Billing: detailed credit history and usage

What Happens When Credits Run Low?

Warning Notifications

You'll receive notifications when your credits are running low so you can plan accordingly.

Zero Credits

When you reach zero credits:

  • You cannot run new reports

  • Scheduled reports will pause

  • You'll be prompted to purchase more credits or upgrade your plan

Solutions

  1. Purchase a top-up: one-time credit packs

  2. Upgrade your plan: more monthly credits

  3. Wait for reset: credits refresh at the start of your next billing cycle

Top-Up Credit Packs

Purchase additional credits anytime without changing your plan:

Credit Usage Tips

Plan Your Reports

Before running a report, check how many prompts it includes. More prompts = more credits.

Use Scheduled Reports Wisely

Set appropriate frequencies:

  • Daily: High-priority tracking (uses more credits)

  • Weekly: Regular monitoring (balanced)

  • Monthly: Long-term trend tracking (most efficient)

Optimize Prompt Count

For scheduled reports, start with fewer prompts and expand as needed.

Viewing Credit History

Go to Plans & Billing -> Top-Ups tab to see:

  • Credit purchase history

  • Usage breakdown

  • Top-up options
