AI engines cite YouTube videos in their answers. Sources > YouTube already shows every video the answers cite. Connecting your own channel tells Rank Prompt which of those videos are yours, and what the engines cite when they leave your brand out. It is available on every plan and spends no credits. Rank Prompt only reads your channel: it never uploads, edits or comments.
Open YouTube channel under Explorer > Search in the sidebar
Click Connect and sign in with the Google account that owns the channel. Google asks for permission to view your YouTube account; your other Google connections stay as they are
If the account owns more than one channel (a Brand Account), pick the one for this brand. With only one, it is picked for you
Rank Prompt reads your uploads: title, publish date, views, description, chapters and whether the video has captions
Use Read again after you publish or update videos. In Sources > YouTube, your own videos now read Your channel under their title.
Tile | What it means |
|---|---|
Videos | Your channel's uploads |
Cited by AI | Your videos cited in at least one AI answer in the last 90 days |
To fix | Videos without chapters or without captions |
Prompts to answer | Prompts where AI cites another channel's video and leaves your brand out |
Your videos lists each upload with its views, AI citations, the engines that cited it, its chapters and whether it has captions. Engines quote a video by its moments: chapters in the description and captions (read as the transcript) let them cite the part that answers a question.
Videos AI cites without you lists other channels' videos cited in answers that did not name your brand, with how many such answers and their prompts.
Prompts to answer in a video ranks those prompts by how many answers left you out.
Click Create tasks in the page header. Rank Prompt suggests, in Tasks:
Add chapters and a transcript to <video> for your uploads missing either, the cited and most viewed first
Answer "<prompt>" in a video for each prompt to answer
Each task lands once. Clicking again later only adds what is new; tasks you already moved keep their stage.
What are chapters? YouTube makes chapters from timestamps in the description: the first must be 0:00, there must be at least three, and each chapter must last ten seconds or more.
Does Rank Prompt read my captions? It reads whether a video has captions, not their text.
Can I use the API or the agent? Yes. GET /v1/brands/{brand_id}/youtube needs the read:youtube and read:citations scopes; POST /v1/brands/{brand_id}/youtube/tasks needs write:tasks and read:youtube. The agent and the MCP server read and create the same.
