# Merchant Center

Connect Google Merchant Center to see your product feed's health, track shopping prompts from your catalog and see which of your products AI names in its answers.

When someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity "best blender under $500", the engines answer with products they can identify by name. The Merchant Center connection reads your products the way Google processes them, so you can fix what keeps a product from being recognized and track whether AI recommends it. It is available on every plan and spends no credits. Rank Prompt only reads: it never changes your feed.

## Connecting

1. Open **Products** under **Explorer > Search** in the sidebar

2. Click **Connect** and sign in with the Google account that has access to your Merchant Center account. Google asks for permission to see your product listings; your other Google connections (Analytics, Search Console, Business Profile) stay as they are

3. If the Google account reaches more than one Merchant Center account, pick the one for this brand. With only one, it is picked for you

4. Rank Prompt reads your products. A large catalog takes a minute

Use **Read again** in the page header after you change your feed. To switch to another Google account, disconnect Google in **Integrations** first.

## Feed health

The four tiles at the top count what Google reports about your feed. Click a tile to filter the table to those products.

<table style="min-width: 50px;"><colgroup><col style="min-width: 25px;"><col style="min-width: 25px;"></colgroup><tbody><tr><th colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Tile</p></th><th colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>What it means</p></th></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Products</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Every product Google processed for this account</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Disapproved</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Google disapproved the product in at least one country. It does not show in Google Shopping there</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Price mismatches</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Google found a different price on the product's page than in your feed. Google reads the page, and so do AI engines</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Missing GTIN</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>The product has no GTIN, so Google and the engines cannot match it to the same model sold elsewhere</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

The **Issues** column lists each problem Google reports for a product. The table also filters by missing brand and out of stock, and searches by title.

## Shopping prompts

The **Shopping prompts** card suggests the questions buyers ask an AI engine before buying one of your products, written in your brand's market language:

- `best <category> under <price>` for each category with two or more products in stock, at a round price just above most of them

- a review question for your most specific product names

Tick the ones you want and click **Track**, then add them to an existing report or start a new one. Each run then shows whether AI recommends your products for those questions.

## Products named by AI

The **Named by AI** card lists the products your latest completed report's answers named, with how many answers and which engines. A product counts only when an answer uses its model name as whole words: "blender" alone names nothing, "Vitamix E310 Explorian Blender" does.

When you open an answer in a report, the products of your feed it names show under the answer, with their price and a link to the product page.

## Common questions

**Does Rank Prompt change my Merchant Center account?** No. It only reads products, their status and the issues Google reports.

**Why does a product show as disapproved here but sell on my site?** Disapproval is Google's decision for Google Shopping. The product still sells on your site and AI engines can still read its page, which is why its prompts are still suggested.

**Can I use the API or the agent?** Yes. `GET /v1/brands/{brand_id}/merchant-center` and its `/products`, `/prompt-suggestions` and `/mentions` endpoints need the `read:merchant-center` scope. The agent and the MCP server read the same data.
