# Website autopilot

Website autopilot reads your site every week, checks every page, proposes changes to the pages that sell, writes the pages your site lacks, applies what you approve and measures what each change did. How to turn it on, review, apply, undo and read the results.

**Website autopilot** works on your own website. Every week it reads the site, checks each page and proposes changes with their evidence: a clearer title, a section that answers a prompt AI asks, structured data, an FAQ. It also finds the pages your site lacks and writes them. Nothing goes on the site until you approve it, unless you tell it otherwise.

Open it from **Content > Website autopilot**. **Content > Pages** opens its list of pages.

## Turning it on

1. Make sure the brand has its website set in **Brand settings**. Without one, the page says **This brand has no website**.

2. Open **Content > Website autopilot** and click **Turn on**. An owner or editor of the brand can do it.

3. The first scan starts at once (**Reading your site for the first time**). You can keep using the page while it reads, and if it takes more than a few minutes we email you when it ends.

After that the scan runs once a week, on the day you pick. **Scan now**, at the top of the page, reads the site again, once a day.

The scan is free on every plan.

## Overview

The first tab sums up the newest scan:

<table style="min-width: 50px;"><colgroup><col style="min-width: 25px;"><col style="min-width: 25px;"></colgroup><tbody><tr><th colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Part</p></th><th colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>What it shows</p></th></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Pages</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>How many pages the scan read, and how many have versions in other languages</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Templates</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Groups of pages built the same way. A fix to a template reaches all its pages</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Failing checks</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>The checks the site, a template or a page fails</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Next scan</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>When the weekly scan reads the site again</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Checklist</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Every check the scan runs, grouped by family (<strong>Crawling and indexing</strong>, <strong>On the page</strong>, <strong>Structured data</strong>, <strong>Links</strong>, <strong>Media</strong>, <strong>Speed</strong>, <strong>Trust and entity</strong>, <strong>Conversion</strong>, <strong>What AI cites</strong>). Open a family to see each check and <strong>How to fix it</strong></p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Business profile</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>How the autopilot reads your business: what it sells, who to, how it converts, its market and languages. Click <strong>Edit</strong> on anything wrong: your answer is kept over every later scan</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Work on first</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>The pages where a change wins the most. Open one for its checks, prompts and keywords</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

**Propose changes** writes a proposal for every page that fails a check, the pages to work on first leading. The price shows before you spend.

If your site blocks our reader on some pages (a firewall or bot protection), the page says so and shows how to let it in. Nothing is proposed or charged for those pages.

## To review

**To review** holds the changes waiting for you, one page at a time. Each page shows its changes side by side, **Now** and **Proposed**, with the evidence behind them: the prompts it loses, the brands AI names instead, the searches it could win and the pages AI cites.

- **Approve** or **Reject** each change, every change of a page, or select several pages and approve them at once. **Approve all** approves everything waiting.

- **Edit text** changes a proposed text before you approve it.

- Some changes need a fact only you have, such as a price. They ask you to **Fill in the gaps first** before you can approve them.

- A proposal you do not answer expires after 30 days.

Only owners and editors approve. Viewers see the proposals read only.

## Changes

**Changes** lists every proposal you decided, with its state on your live site: **Needs you**, **In progress**, **Live**, **Undone**, and **Rejected or expired**.

- **Applied**: the change was written to your site. **Verified**: we read the live page again and saw it there.

- **Undo** writes the old values back, for 30 days after a change was applied. A change someone edited since stays as it is and shows as a conflict, so undo never writes over a later edit.

- **Check again** reads the live page again now.

### Results

Every applied change is measured. It is read on the day it goes live (day 0), then again at 14 and at 28 days. When the site has similar pages, some of them are held back without the change for a while, and the change is compared against them. Otherwise it is compared with the weeks before it.

Click a change's result (**Better**, **No change**, **Worse**, **Mixed**, or **Measuring until** a date) to open its results in a side panel: the mention rate in AI answers, citations, search clicks and impressions, and visits from AI assistants, week by week, by AI platform and by prompt.

A held-back page gets its change when the measurement ends. **Release the group** applies it now and ends the comparison with what it measured so far.

## Pages

**Pages** has two views.

**On your site** is the list of every page the scan read, with its type, template, language, prompts, keywords, search clicks and the checks it fails. Search it, filter it by type, and sort by **Work on first** or **Most valuable**. Click a page to open it in a side panel: its type (which you can correct), the prompts and keywords it should win, its checks and its facts, with **Propose changes** for that page.

**To create** lists the pages your site lacks, found from the prompts you lose and the searches you miss: a comparison with a competitor, a pricing page, an FAQ. Each one shows its demand and its status:

- **Ready**: your own facts can back it, so it can be written

- **Needs evidence**: it is short of something, such as your own facts on the topic or a price to state. Open it to see what, or click **Mark ready** with a reason to write it anyway

- **Already covered** and **Dismissed**: set aside

**Generate next wave** writes the ready pages with the most demand, or pick the pages yourself. Each page is written in every language of your site. A wave shows its steps: **Writing**, **In review**, **Publishing** and **Indexing**. The next wave starts once this one is indexed, so new pages do not pile up unindexed.

Click a page of a wave to open its proposal in a side panel, and **Approve** or **Reject** it right there. Once approved, it goes to the site.

## How much it does on its own

In the settings (the **Settings** button at the top of the page), **Autonomy** decides what applies without you:

<table style="min-width: 50px;"><colgroup><col style="min-width: 25px;"><col style="min-width: 25px;"></colgroup><tbody><tr><th colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Autonomy</p></th><th colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>What happens</p></th></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Nothing</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>You approve every change</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Some</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>The kinds of change you pick (for example the meta description or image alt text) apply on their own; the rest wait for you</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Everything</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Every approved kind of change applies on its own. On GitHub, it merges its own pull request once the repository's checks and preview pass</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

Start with **Nothing**, approve a few weeks of proposals, then let the safest kinds run on their own.

The settings also hold the **Weekly scan** switch (pausing it stops the scan and new proposals; what is live stays), the **Scan day**, the **Pages to read**, the **Checks** to leave out, the **Effort**, the **Destinations**, and **Measure again at 14 and 28 days**.

* * *

## Effort and credits

**Effort** sets how much the autopilot reads before it writes:

<table style="min-width: 75px;"><colgroup><col style="min-width: 25px;"><col style="min-width: 25px;"><col style="min-width: 25px;"></colgroup><tbody><tr><th colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Effort</p></th><th colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>What it reads</p></th><th colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Credits</p></th></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Fast</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>The page, your key facts, your knowledge base and the pages AI cites, in one pass</p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>1 credit per page</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Complete</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Also related and important pages of your site before writing</p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>2 credits per page</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

A proposal is charged per page, and each language version of a page is charged as a page. A new page is charged per language it is written in. If a page could not be written, its credits go back.

The weekly scan, **Scan now** and the checklist are free. **Measure again at 14 and 28 days** is off unless you turn it on: it asks the prompts a change targets again, up to 10, and each run costs 1 credit per prompt for every 3 AI platforms it asks.

## Where the changes go

Each part of your site applies through the connection that serves its address. In **Destinations** you can pick another connection, or make a part's changes tasks to paste.

<table style="min-width: 50px;"><colgroup><col style="min-width: 25px;"><col style="min-width: 25px;"></colgroup><tbody><tr><th colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Destination</p></th><th colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>How a change applies</p></th></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>WordPress</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Directly</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Wix</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Directly</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Webflow</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Directly. Webflow keeps the settings in a draft until you publish the site</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Ghost</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Directly</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Shopify</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Directly</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>GitHub</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>In a pull request</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Webhook</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Sent to your tool</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Task to paste</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>A task on your board with the text to paste; we check it went live</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

When a change cannot be written safely, for example a page built with a page builder or a section shared by other pages, it waits in **Tasks** to paste by hand. See [Integrations overview](https://help.rankprompt.com/en/articles/56-integrations-overview.md) to connect your site.

## Agencies and clients

On Agency Plus, **Send to client** in **To review** creates a review link for one proposal. Your client opens it in your branding and approves or rejects each change, with a comment if they like. Nothing applies without an answer, and the link lasts 30 days.

A client with their own seat in the app sees **Proposals** in their sidebar: the changes the agency sent them, to approve or reject there.

## Plans

<table style="min-width: 50px;"><colgroup><col style="min-width: 25px;"><col style="min-width: 25px;"></colgroup><tbody><tr><th colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Plan</p></th><th colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>What you get</p></th></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Free</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>The weekly scan, the checklist, the list of pages your site lacks, and one free sample proposal of your home page, now and with the proposal side by side. One sample per account</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Starter and up</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>Proposals for every page, new pages, and applying the changes to your site</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p><strong>Agency Plus</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p>The client review link</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

The plan that counts is the brand owner's.

## Notifications

Website autopilot tells you, in the bell and by email, when proposals are waiting, when changes are applied (or not visible yet), when your client decided, and when new pages are written (**Website autopilot**). When a change has been measured for 28 days you get its results (**Website autopilot results**), and when a money page stops being readable by search engines or AI assistants you hear about it at once (**Website regressions**). Turn each on or off in [Notifications](https://help.rankprompt.com/en/articles/67-notifications-and-preferences.md).
